The BMW F 450 RR

Enter race mode

The authentic RR experience doesn’t only start on the race track. With its supersport design, the newly developed two-cylinder engine, 48 hp and a curb weight of only 390 lbs, the BMW F 450 RR brings racing DNA to your everyday life. It brings you to the starting line of the RR world and gives you the option to test your skills on every ride and keep challenging yourself.

Highlights for your race mode

Riding modes Pro and 6.5-inch TFT display

With the riding modes Pro, you can tune the M Sport to suit your riding style in a targeted way. In the Race Pro mode, you can customize the configuration of the engine characteristics, Dynamic Traction Control and ABS system. Three additional Sport screens provide information about traction control, brake force, lean angle, lap times and more on the 6.5-inch TFT display, which is included as standard. This way, you can also see the data you need to keep fine-tuning your technique and your setup.

Easy Ride Clutch (ERC)

Ride away and stop without the need to operate the clutch lever. The optional Easy Ride Clutch uses centrifugal force to take over the job of operating the clutch. In overrun mode, the clutch remains closed. This means that you can still rely on the engine braking effect you’re accustomed to. In conjunction with Shift Assistant Pro, there’s no need to use the clutch at all. This supports a dynamic riding style. You can use the clutch lever to intervene manually and take direct control of the motorcycle.

Winglets

More than just a pretty face: the striking split-face front and winglets further refine the BMW F 450 RR’s supersport aesthetic. The full trim panel, the slim, teardrop-shaped tank and the short rear carry this clear line forward. This means it’s immediately recognizable as a member of the RR family, adapted for the 450 class and designed to be your entryway into the world of RR.

Shift Assistant Pro

Professional racing technology for your next trip with the M Sport. Shift Assistant Pro allows for gear changes with virtually no interruption in traction force, and helps you keep a good rhythm when accelerating. It lets you change gears without having to operate the clutch. For an even sportier setup, the gearshift can be reversed with minimal effort.

Gold-color 43-mm upside-down fork

Precision starts with the right setup. The gold-colored 43 mm upside-down fork guides the front wheel with 5.5 inches of spring travel. With the M Sport, you can adapt the rebound and compression stages to suit your own individual riding style. This means you can take an even more personalized setup to the streets, from everyday rides to ambitious adventures.

Adjustable hand levers and heated grips

Adapt the brake and clutch levers to suit your grip width, allowing you to access both levers with more ease, and ensuring that you still have a good feel for your bike when braking, engaging the clutch or changing gears. The heated grips, which are included as standard, can be controlled using the multi-controller, and you can choose from three different heating levels. In colder weather, this keeps your hands nice and warm, without restricting your movement – for a confident grip and enhanced comfort on every ride.

Two-cylinder in-line engine

Ready when you are. The newly developed two-cylinder in-line engine is torque-oriented and responds spontaneously to your throttle commands. 80 percent of the available torque can be utilized from as little as 3,000 rpm.

Underbelly muffler

The compact underbelly muffler sits beneath the engine, keeping the short supersport silhouette of the BMW F 450 RR clean and clear. Compared with a conventional rear silencer, the design results in a weight saving of around 4.4 lb, helping to reduce the bike’s total weight. At the same time, you can still hear the characteristic rhythm of the two-cylinder engine. A detail that combines design, lightweight construction and typical RR character.

Performance

Your setup. Your race mode.

With the M Sport, the riding modes Pro with the Race Pro mode helps you match your setup to your riding style more closely. The throttle response, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) can be configured individually. This means you decide how directly the BMW F 450 RR responds and how much intervention you want the assistance systems to perform – for enhanced control and a setup that adapts to your skills.

Performance meets levity

48 hp, only 390 lbs – the BMW F 450 RR strikes the balance between performance and weight for agile handling. The engine takes on a load-bearing function in the frame. This allows for a compact, slim design, resulting in an additional weight reduction. The closed, hollow-cast rear swinging arm made of aluminum also reduces the weight, while also offering a high degree of rigidity. The results can be felt in nearly every curve, thanks to the precise steering and the ability to quickly change lines.

Air/liquid-cooled two-cylinder in-line engine
The newly developed two-cylinder in-line engine gets straight to work with 48 hp and 420 cc's. Its maximum torque of 32 ft-lb. is achieved at 6,750 rpm. Even at 3,000 rpm, you have 80 percent of it available. This is how the BMW F 450 RR initiates accelerating powerfully out of curves, without the need to constantly rev up the engine. The crankpin offset of 135 degrees mitigates unwanted vibrations and shapes the independent character of the engine.

Design

A clear line: RR

Design language: supersport. That’s what the F 450 RR stands for with its offensive, aggressive flyline and iconic winglets. The central element in the design of the body is the full trim panel with its strikingly clear lines. The slim, teardrop-shaped tank and the short rear reinforce the concept: as little resistance as possible and as much performance as is feasible.
