What are the requirements for being able to use the Connectivity optional equipment with TFT display?

1) Motorcycle with 6AB Connectivity optional equipment

2) Smartphone and BMW Motorrad communication system for media and telephone

3) BMW Motorrad Connected app for smartphone-based navigation for smartphones with iOS or Android.

The majority of current smartphones support telephone services (hands-free mode), media player (A2DP and AVRCP) and navigation (SPP/ iAP). BMW Motorrad Connected App for devices with an up-to-date iOS operating system or an up-to-date Android operating system. Type and scope of the navigation depends on the technical environment as well as the user's end device. Navigation can be used as part of the BMW Motorrad Connected app as long as BWM Motorrad receives map data and navigation services from a third-party provider, but at least 3 years from first registration.

Which smartphones are compatible with Connectivity?

The majority of current smartphones support telephone services (hands-free mode), media player (A2DP and AVRCP) and navigation (SPP/ iAP). BMW Motorrad Connected App for devices with an up-to-date iOS operating system or an up-to-date Android operating system.

Which helmet Bluetooth communication systems does the Connectivity optional equipment work with?

Bluetooth connection between TFT-Display and communication system: compatibility is ensured with a BMW Motorrad Communication System. For compatibility with other Bluetooth communication systems please refer to the corresponding manufacturer’s web site or support. Changing the audio volume directly via the Multi-controller works exclusively when using a BMW Motorrad Communication System.

Is a mobile online connection required to use the navigation?

It is necessary to download the map data for the desired regions or countries. It is recommended to do so via a broadband internet connection before riding. The navigation will still function with the map data without access to a mobile network as long as GPS and Bluetooth are enabled on the smartphone. Mobile data is only required to use additional functions, for instance traffic information.

Is personal data transmitted to BMW Motorrad via the app?

The BMW Motorrad Connected app does not transmit any personal data. Please refer to the data privacy statement within the app for details.

Can I hear voice prompts or listen to music from the BMW Motorrad Navigator when my in-helmet communication system is connected with the TFT-display?

No. The BMW Motorrad Navigator's audio output can only be used if the Navigator is directly connected to the in-helmet communication system.

Best practice tips

Bluetooth connection: Establishing a Bluetooth connection, the so-called pairing of the TFT-display with your mobile device and the BMW Motorrad Communication System is described in full detail in the rider’s manual. In some cases, it may be necessary to repeat pairing. The rider’s manual also offers useful hints and troubleshooting in case of any problems.

Audio output: For optimal audio output while listening to music or being on the phone it is useful to set the audio output level on the mobile device to maximum. Audio volume while riding can then be regulated directly using the in-helmet communication system volume control or the Multi-Controller (when using a BWM Motorrad Communication System).
